One Month Closer…

To Spring. So excited that January is coming to an end! Some of you may be avid snow people, but I am a beach/sun/boat kind of person all the way.

Here’s what we’ve been up to.

Valentine’s Day Decorating.

I even made a few decorations with Kali (she got a cricut as well)…

Again, not great…but it is a lot of fun. Maybe she’ll give me some pictures of the ones that she made.

I also have a freebie for you if you want it.

Isn’t this cute?

Last, but not least, the little one tried Rice Cereal.

We made a terrific mess. I have no idea if it was a success. It appears she’s not quite sure what to think. Is this really the way we eat?? She knows the liquid stuff well…what’s with the mush?!

Almost

It seems like there’s a lot of ‘almosts’ going on here with Kambri.

We tried this:

IMG00338-20110124-1220

“Hey, this isn’t so bad…I think I can do this, yeah!”

IMG00340-20110124-1220

“Wait. You’re not going to hold me up? Not liking this so much anymore.”

IMG00341-20110124-1221

“Stuck. I’m Stuuuuuuck!”

Next we attempted this:

IMG00346-20110124-1222

“I’m feeling like I might want to be mobile today. Maybe if I kind of swivel this way I can reach some of these awesome toys.”

IMG00353-20110124-1224

“Maybe scrunching myself into a tiny ball will work better…”

We tried it from the belly:

IMG00349-20110124-1223

“Why did you put me on my belly mom? I HATE being on my belly.”

IMG00352-20110124-1224

Giving up. “Maybe I’ll be mobile tomorrow…”

Projects

I have always LOVED decorating. When I was younger I wanted my room to be like a little piece of heaven. Something that when you walked in you would sigh happily. It was a pink heaven then, but it was my pink heaven.

Enter the Cricut. I had a good time this week making decorations. It was the only way I could make myself take down Christmas- if I had something fun to put back up. It’s too early for Valentines stuff, and most January stuff is blue…i.e. snowmen, snowflakes, etc. and does not match my red house. Justin got me some tile & wood and here are the results. They aren’t great, but it was my first attempt, and It was oh so easy!

I love you pink Cricut. Hopefully we can become even better friends.

4 Months

Justin’s back at the temple, and I have some time I don’t know what to do with. So, I’ll blog for a minute.

Kambri is now 4 months old. Every month that goes by just gets more fun I think. She gets that much more smiley, and happy, and actually has a little personality. She’s still pretty serious, but I think she’s just very curious and watchful. She’s trying to sit up, and is great at standing with help. She loves oranges, but absolutely hates being on her belly. She digs her face into the ground and screams…absolutely no working on pushing herself up at all. Oh well, my mom said I was the same way and I still ended up crawling. She is also extremely stubborn. She will not be forced to do anything... I guess it’s going to be payback for my own stubbornness. She has giggled a few times, super cute, but it’s tough to get one out of her. Her dad can do it best and knows exactly where she’s ticklish. She always smiles when he talks to her- She is fascinated by her daddy.

She has been so fun, and I am excited to see her get bigger :).

Christmas Time

Christmas is such a fun, beautiful time of year. It seems to pass by too quickly. This year was different with a baby, but in a good way. Justin and I picked out our own ‘big’ presents and bought each other a whole bunch of little things as the surprises. It wasn’t as much fun this way, but we did get what we wanted. I got a cricut (a pink one even!) during my midnight black Friday shopping spree, and Justin bought himself another shotgun…supposedly different then all the others, at least that’s what he claims. Kambri got a Jumperoo, which we opened early, but hey she’ll never know. We were very blessed and I can honestly say I got everything I wanted this Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Kambri with Santa 001

We’re headed to Savior of the World tonight. I love the spirit that that play brings to the holidays. I’ve seen it several years in a row and it always seems to touch me and remind me why we celebrate Christmas. We’re also going to try to walk around temple square for a few minutes first. I haven’t done that for a while so I’m excited to see all the lights and colors.

Last but not least ALL of my shopping is done! That has never happened this early. No more stress this year… that sounds wonderful.

Talking

Three Months

Kambri is three months old today. It feels like it flew by, but also it’s hard to remember what it was like without her. We celebrated by hanging in our pjs in bed most of the day (since I am no longer working this seems like an acceptable way to spend the day occasionally, haha). I took some pictures and videos to commemorate the moment, she somewhat played along giving me all sorts of question mark faces, scowls, and smiles.

So far Kambri is our serious girl, she smiles easily but they are just as easily forgotten and replaced by a curious face or a scowl. She can be found studiously studying things, still trying to figure out this big world, even if it’s something as small as a window. She is extremely stiff. My mom said Kali was like that and she was walking by 8 months, so we’ll have to see if that means anything. I can get her to sit, but I seriously have to bend her legs first. She still loves that food, she goes into a trance-like this is heaven state while eating, and she is still sleeping at least 8 hours at night. I love catching her watching me, concentrating so hard at studying my face or what I’m doing. People interest her a lot more than toys. She has such beautiful big eyes and chunky cheeks. We sure do love this baby!

These aren’t great quality but here was our day:

Then she got bored of the camera and went back to her friend, Mr. Peacock.
