Christmastime

There are so many things to do during Christmastime. December is such a blast :)

We started off just a few days after Thanksgiving by going to see Savior of the World. This is a such a beautiful play that the church puts on. It is by far my favorite way to get into the true spirit of Christmastime.

We also hit the Festival of Trees, but I forgot to pull out the camera. Kali and I hurried through with the strollers trying to see how much we could get through before the babies really got tired of it. It was just over half with the help of a caramel apple. Yum.

Zoo Lights. This was too cute. All the moving light displays, the reindeer, and the night animals that were all up. Some of our fav's were the white wolf, the roaring tiger, the seals were very much on the go, as were the bats--fascinating, though they looked an awful lot like vampires. We didn't get to see the polar bears though, but our friends, the Summer's, were awesome and gave us a family pass to the zoo for next year- we are so excited!

Kambri absolutely loves curious george and all monkeys that resemble him

Santa's reindeer

Yesterday we went to the Thanksgiving Point Santa Breakfast, this is tradition because my mom does the photography. So far it's also tradition for Kambri to have a near heart attack on Santa's lap. She still hates any strange or scary looking men.

why dad, why? Even Dextin wasn't a fan and he loves Santa

high five for santa, that's as close as she would get if she had the choice

happy to be done, notice the tear?

heartbreaking, someday she'll like santa right?

Dad felt bad and gave her candy to make up for it

The frontrunner had a free day (as long as you brought a can of food) so we took advantage and headed up to city creek! Nice to only drive two minutes to the station. The kids were so excited for the train.

couldn't help but hold on to her, it was so crowded our 'window' was actually a door....scary.

The City Creek play area. This was too funny. Dextin had a bit of Dr. Pepper....he was a wild man, running, dancing, skipping, pushing others to go if necessary, busy, busy, for about a half an hour....then he collapsed on the floor in exhaustion. Kambri on the other hand hated how many people were there, she timidly wandered around trying to stay out of everyone's way and doing her best to keep up with Dextin, the only kid she knew...fail...she had had no Dr. Pepper.

Dextin did stop for a minute and grab her hand to pull her along, too cute.

We are looking forward to more parties and activities this week. Love Christmastime!!

New Hobby

Biking:

It's been fun so far, I'm hoping we'll stick with it.

I have this aversion to outdoor exercise, not really on purpose....it's just my head blows up into a giant red sweaty pounding sphere....which makes it more difficult to enjoy. But I love that the cruiser bikes are back in! How fun are they?! :). I even convinced Justin to buy one.

Golden

I enjoy this little guy....even if I have to catch him by surprise before he blackens in his obvious dislike for me. One day he will figure out I am the one feeding him and we will develop a mutual respect as craftor and little craft buddy :)

New Friend

my new crafting buddy is here! He showed up this morning in a little box after being overnighted from CA. I am not sure what I shall name him yet (Pascal would be unoriginal I guess....and Flynn Eugene the 2nd doesn't seem right), but I am glad to see this fun space empty no more.

Mmmm

Made these yesterday. Talk about delicious and easy! Just how I like it. We even carved one of the pumpkins on our porch for the pumpkin. Perfect for a Sunday evening in Autumn-time.

You can find the 20 minute recipe Here.

The State Fair

I love Autumn.

The state fair is kind of the epitemy of autumn time. There are fluffy and farm animals, cool crisp air, vegetables, the smell of rain, good food....and on and on.

Our friends invited us to go this year, and it was a blast!

Mother Gooses' Husband.

The sea lion show....this was awesome!

The kangaroos

A baby trying to escape

And I didn't even get a picture of our giant icecream cone. All homeade fresh berry icecream....delicious.

I think I will have a farm when I grow up.

September 1st

August 31st is like Christmas Eve to my husband. He gets so excited he can't sleep, just like a little boy. Every year on this night he is full of anticipation.

September 1st starts the hunting season.

More specifically he is a bird hunter. I went with him today. He went yesterday and got a few so he was alright with the fact that I am more of a 'nature walker' and take my time. I need constant breaks and a little pushing and pulling along, some carrying even. He went slow, held my hand, and bushwacked for me. It's fun to get out once in a while, even if we did not see one bird.

I felt pretty safe following this guy and his large gun.

If you look close you can see Justin's Brittany Spaniel, Autumn. Named for her favorite time of the year she is an excellent bird dog.

Ruger: our biggest dumb dog who gallops when he runs.

Below: Bushwacking necessary.

Even though we didn't seen one bird we did catch a fish.

At this cute little creek, called Bennie Creek up Payson Canyon. Justin pulled out his fly fishing gear and we had a 9 incher within two minutes. He was still a little guy so we didn't keep him. Instead we went out for seafood ;)

Fireworks

Is anyone else happy that they changed the law for fireworks? Oh my, it was like a panorama of awesomeness last night. Better than any fireworks show I've been to. Kambri was mesmerized too. It was all so pretty. I have a feeling the 4th is going to be a bit more exciting now.

First Rodeo

We love the rodeos! We took Kambri to the Lehi Round Up Rodeo, where we had some awesome seats! She did really well, minus about five minutes in the middle where she decided she was tired and going to compete with the noise going on around us. Everyone turned around trying to figure out what we were doing to our baby. Oh well, after that she was a perfect angel... asleep that is ;).

Things I do now because I have time.

I have to admit it's been a little strange not to have a paying job. I do consider being a mom a job of sorts, but there are no set hours or very many places I have to be. So, even though it is not a cake walk by any means, I have really enjoyed being able to do things I would never have had time or energy for before.

First, I actually planned a few dates. Fun dates. Inexpensive dates. The website, if you missed it on my Favorite things list, is Here.

The first was a double date/dinner with some friends. It was a CSI date. Justin made a delicious steak/potato/corn on the cob dinner and I planned the activity. I used This idea. Here is what they walked up to on our front porch (this is the original, not ours, I didn't take a picture of the actual crime scene, which is too bad because it was awesome!)

Here was OUR victim. Dead in the sink because I'm unsure what to do with him yet, haha.

Then we played a little solve the mystery game to figure out who killed our poor bunny friend. It was so easy to set up, mostly just printing stuff off.

We ended with a Strawberry shortcake dessert and an episode of Psych (a comedy Mystery TV Show, which we LOVE!) Everyone seemed to have a pretty good time :).

Next I planned a date for just Justin and I. The idea can be found here. It's centered around the new Pirates Movie coming out.

First I planned a little treasure hunt. I used their website to translate sentences into 'Pirate' and a copy of an old parchment paper to print them on. He really had fun trying to figure out the clues, because I did not make them easy. Then we ate Fish fillets, popcorn shrimp, and homeade Fries. So yummy. After he found the 'treasure', which was full of treats for watching the movie, we set up a kiddie pool as our 'boat' and filled it with pillows and blankets. We then watched the first movie. Afterward we made pina colada sorbet. Such a fun night!

More things I now have time for:

I decided I was tired of my early spring decorations, we're half way through May, so it's almost summer! Here is what I whipped up the other day.

Another cute printable. It can be found Here. However, my printer ink was running low on Yellow, so I had to cut it out on the cricut rather than print it. I actually like it a little better this way. But the printable is still really cute too (and much easier!)

This is to match the printable. I used all the same paper.

Fruit is good for May/June right?

This was a decoration that said 'home sweet home' in a light yellow and brown. I never liked it, so I re-vamped it.

Here's a fun idea. Buy a cheap white towel and add ric-rac. Easy and it matches all the other stuff I made.

I also tried a homeade card. I really like how it turned out :)

So Fun. Though now that it's warm it's probably time to move on to the yard work. Wahoo! I also bought a baby sign language book. I like the idea but we'll see if I actually take the time to learn it myself. So that is to be continued....
