First project is complete!
I started with
this idea....which I really liked. It's getting warmer and I would love to have something to lay Kambri on while I'm weeding, or have our own blanket to take to the park or an outdoor concert. The waterproof feature was an added bonus! I hate getting your pants wet or getting cold from a wet blanket.
A Trip to Hobby Lobby and Walmart later and I discovered fabric is dang expensive! I guess it must be one of those things that you stock up on here and there until you have a whole bunch you already own to choose from?? Even online it didn't get much less than 4$/yard for the cute fabrics. Hmmm....
So Walmart was selling quilted blankets, the kind that is really thin for the top of your bed, for $20. It was a King size and came in a matching bag, perfect for picnicking! I would have probably used about 5-6 yards of fabric, so it saved me a little to buy the blanket.
The pattern even reminded me of a spring/summer day outside.

I also picked up some batting and a couple of shower curtains for the back. I could not find tablecloths anywhere and shower curtains are basically the same material, right?
Justin helped me out. See him cutting? He also did a lot of sewing. He.is.awesome.

We cut down the king size about 15 inches to match the square batting size of 86x86. I used the extra fabric for the ties.
Koda was not helpful. But it must be comfy which is a good sign.

Make sure you go slow while sewing, we ended up breaking several needles.
We also pulled the border over the bottom so the plastic edges would be completely enclosed.
All done!

We had to test it out today. It was such a beautiful afternoon!

Silly puppies

Totally a success. I hope it holds up for quite a while.
