I have to admit it's been a little strange not to have a paying job. I do consider being a mom a job of sorts, but there are no set hours or very many places I have to be. So, even though it is not a cake walk by any means, I have really enjoyed being able to do things I would never have had time or energy for before.
First, I actually planned a few dates. Fun dates. Inexpensive dates. The website, if you missed it on my Favorite things list, is Here.
The first was a double date/dinner with some friends. It was a CSI date. Justin made a delicious steak/potato/corn on the cob dinner and I planned the activity. I used This idea. Here is what they walked up to on our front porch (this is the original, not ours, I didn't take a picture of the actual crime scene, which is too bad because it was awesome!)

Here was OUR victim. Dead in the sink because I'm unsure what to do with him yet, haha.

Then we played a little solve the mystery game to figure out who killed our poor bunny friend. It was so easy to set up, mostly just printing stuff off.

We ended with a Strawberry shortcake dessert and an episode of Psych (a comedy Mystery TV Show, which we LOVE!) Everyone seemed to have a pretty good time :).
Next I planned a date for just Justin and I. The idea can be found here. It's centered around the new Pirates Movie coming out.

First I planned a little treasure hunt. I used their website to translate sentences into 'Pirate' and a copy of an old parchment paper to print them on. He really had fun trying to figure out the clues, because I did not make them easy. Then we ate Fish fillets, popcorn shrimp, and homeade Fries. So yummy. After he found the 'treasure', which was full of treats for watching the movie, we set up a kiddie pool as our 'boat' and filled it with pillows and blankets. We then watched the first movie. Afterward we made pina colada sorbet. Such a fun night!
More things I now have time for:
I decided I was tired of my early spring decorations, we're half way through May, so it's almost summer! Here is what I whipped up the other day.
Another cute printable. It can be found Here. However, my printer ink was running low on Yellow, so I had to cut it out on the cricut rather than print it. I actually like it a little better this way. But the printable is still really cute too (and much easier!)

This is to match the printable. I used all the same paper.

Fruit is good for May/June right?

This was a decoration that said 'home sweet home' in a light yellow and brown. I never liked it, so I re-vamped it.

Here's a fun idea. Buy a cheap white towel and add ric-rac. Easy and it matches all the other stuff I made.

I also tried a homeade card. I really like how it turned out :)

So Fun. Though now that it's warm it's probably time to move on to the yard work. Wahoo! I also bought a baby sign language book. I like the idea but we'll see if I actually take the time to learn it myself. So that is to be continued....
