Christmas Time

Christmas is such a fun, beautiful time of year. It seems to pass by too quickly. This year was different with a baby, but in a good way. Justin and I picked out our own ‘big’ presents and bought each other a whole bunch of little things as the surprises. It wasn’t as much fun this way, but we did get what we wanted. I got a cricut (a pink one even!) during my midnight black Friday shopping spree, and Justin bought himself another shotgun…supposedly different then all the others, at least that’s what he claims. Kambri got a Jumperoo, which we opened early, but hey she’ll never know. We were very blessed and I can honestly say I got everything I wanted this Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Kambri with Santa 001

We’re headed to Savior of the World tonight. I love the spirit that that play brings to the holidays. I’ve seen it several years in a row and it always seems to touch me and remind me why we celebrate Christmas. We’re also going to try to walk around temple square for a few minutes first. I haven’t done that for a while so I’m excited to see all the lights and colors.

Last but not least ALL of my shopping is done! That has never happened this early. No more stress this year… that sounds wonderful.

Talking

Three Months

Kambri is three months old today. It feels like it flew by, but also it’s hard to remember what it was like without her. We celebrated by hanging in our pjs in bed most of the day (since I am no longer working this seems like an acceptable way to spend the day occasionally, haha). I took some pictures and videos to commemorate the moment, she somewhat played along giving me all sorts of question mark faces, scowls, and smiles.

So far Kambri is our serious girl, she smiles easily but they are just as easily forgotten and replaced by a curious face or a scowl. She can be found studiously studying things, still trying to figure out this big world, even if it’s something as small as a window. She is extremely stiff. My mom said Kali was like that and she was walking by 8 months, so we’ll have to see if that means anything. I can get her to sit, but I seriously have to bend her legs first. She still loves that food, she goes into a trance-like this is heaven state while eating, and she is still sleeping at least 8 hours at night. I love catching her watching me, concentrating so hard at studying my face or what I’m doing. People interest her a lot more than toys. She has such beautiful big eyes and chunky cheeks. We sure do love this baby!

These aren’t great quality but here was our day:

Then she got bored of the camera and went back to her friend, Mr. Peacock.

Blessing Day

Today Kambri was given a name and a blessing by her dad. He was so nervous…but he did a great job. It was a beautiful blessing. Justin seems to have a gift for this kind of stuff, he always does so well and is very eloquent, for lack of a better word. He took a deep breath and didn’t even sound nervous at all. We recorded it for her so that she can have it later. I hope she’ll enjoy that.

Afterward we met at our house for some lunch. I was worried we were going to have 60 people and nowhere for them to sit, but due to the storm we just had our immediate family and a few friends, so about half that. It went great I thought, not too squishy in our small house, and the food was very good. Thanks everyone for helping out and for coming!

Getting Fatter

But that’s a good thing right?

She is seriously starting to work my arm muscles.

I realize I haven’t posted much about what Kambri is up to these days. It’s probably because it still doesn’t involve a whole lot. Let’s see, she is an excellent sleeper! We have seriously been so blessed in that area. She is currently sleeping 8-10 hours a night. If she goes to bed at 10 she’s up no sooner than 6:30 ish. If she goes to bed at midnight she’s down til 8. We really are lucky. She’s up for a couple hours and then goes back down until around 11-12. Then she’s up for most of the day with only a little cat nap here and there. Kambri is smiling now. We think that is the cutest most awesome thing. It’s much better then her constant scowl, which still does appear some of the time. She is a huge eater, she will down around 6 oz in 10-15 minutes. Sometimes even that is not enough, but that usually occurs in the evenings. She is much much better then she used to be in the evenings, only a little grumpy now and then. She can also hold her head up! I love this as she is much easier to carry around now. She gets bored easily and I have started buying her toys to keep her occupied…she will look at them for about a half hour which gives mommy enough time to get ready, yay! She absolutely loves fuzzy things, and her fuzziest blanket can get her to sleep much quicker then I can. She just puts it right up against her little cheek and she’s out. That’s about it, she’s not rolling over yet (which I’m okay with), and she’s just starting to coo…which is super cute. We sure do love our little girl.

2 Month Appointment

Is there anything more sad then a baby’s cry after they’ve been poked with three needles? Probably, but it sure doesn’t seem like it. Poor baby has slept all evening, must’ve been pretty traumatic.

CIMG7736

Other than that everything is looking good. She’s 11lbs 6oz and 23.5 inches long. I will spare you the percentile numbers as I’m not even sure I know what they mean. My best guess after contemplating them a little is that she’s tall but pretty average in every other measurement. She’s developing perfectly, despite my irregular enforcement of ‘tummy time’. No flat head yet, haha. Kind of a funny thought…flat head. Probably not as funny if you have one.

I cleaned my house today. I feel this is a huge accomplishment. How does anyone get anything done with kids? Especially more than one?? I feel crazy enough as it is. Maybe multi-tasking will take on a whole different meaning to me then.

It appears winter has decided to show its cold/wet face. I should be grateful that it decided to wait a whole extra month….I’ll work on that gratitude thing once spring has come. Until then I will enjoy what is left of my favorite time of the year. Black Friday is coming, Yay!

I almost caught one…

We’ve been catching a few smiles here and there from Kambri, but this morning (after eating a TON of food) she finally gave me a couple in a row. It was so cute. I grabbed the camera and changed the settings to take a whole bunch in a row. Here’s the results. I almost got one!

Kissing Cousins?

I think it is so fun that Kambri has two cousins born within just a couple of weeks of her. Dextin is four days younger, and Kyler is about 2 1/2 weeks younger. She’ll have to keep up with the boys, but I doubt she’ll have much problem with that. I’m excited to watch them grow up together.
