Picnic Time

First project is complete!

I started with this idea....which I really liked. It's getting warmer and I would love to have something to lay Kambri on while I'm weeding, or have our own blanket to take to the park or an outdoor concert. The waterproof feature was an added bonus! I hate getting your pants wet or getting cold from a wet blanket.

A Trip to Hobby Lobby and Walmart later and I discovered fabric is dang expensive! I guess it must be one of those things that you stock up on here and there until you have a whole bunch you already own to choose from?? Even online it didn't get much less than 4$/yard for the cute fabrics. Hmmm....

So Walmart was selling quilted blankets, the kind that is really thin for the top of your bed, for $20. It was a King size and came in a matching bag, perfect for picnicking! I would have probably used about 5-6 yards of fabric, so it saved me a little to buy the blanket.

The pattern even reminded me of a spring/summer day outside.



I also picked up some batting and a couple of shower curtains for the back. I could not find tablecloths anywhere and shower curtains are basically the same material, right?

Justin helped me out. See him cutting? He also did a lot of sewing. He.is.awesome.



We cut down the king size about 15 inches to match the square batting size of 86x86. I used the extra fabric for the ties.

Koda was not helpful. But it must be comfy which is a good sign.


Make sure you go slow while sewing, we ended up breaking several needles.

We also pulled the border over the bottom so the plastic edges would be completely enclosed.

All done!



We had to test it out today. It was such a beautiful afternoon!

The Big Cheese

I know this makes two posts in one day, but I finally got a picture of our newest and most beautiful trick yet...the big cheese.

I thought she was too young for this, but apparently not. For every time I try to get her to smile or laugh I get this frightening expression instead.





I just tell her she's pretty. Mom's are supposed to do that right?

Naptime

It's got to be my favorite time of day! If we have a normal day, uninterrupted by trips or meetings, Kambri will sleep up to three hours for her nap. I get my cleaning done, and then decide what I want to do next. Yesterday I wanted to craft. I didn't really have anything I needed, but it sounded like fun, so I did something for Easter.

I've really wanted something that said this for a long time...





A quick garland so that the other side of this area matched, and voila! Naptime was over.



Did you know you could sandpaper scrapbook paper? I'd never thought of it, but something I read said to try it, and look what it does, so cool! It totally makes them look a bit more antique.

Remember that project I didn't love because it looked like I made it? I added a ribbon, and it looks much better I think.



Aw, how I love naptime! I've got some projects I'm excited to do. I'll post them when I'm done along with the link to the tutorials. yay!

Feelin the Itch

It's that time of year again. Winter is subsiding, the sun is coming out, things are getting a little greener. But it's still not that warm here, in good ol' Utah County. This is the time of year that is perfect for traveling! I am ready to take a trip. I won't even be picky.

I would go here.

Or Kali is going to live here for the summer. I would definitely go there.


The trick is to convince Justin. He feels you don't get to keep anything after a vacation is over....and it is usually over pretty quickly.

I disagree. Anyone else? I could use any suggestions to convince that guy otherwise.

Another difficulty...the baby. What to do with a baby? I wish there was a safety deposit box for them. Where they would be perfectly happy and content until you get home. Ah, that would be nice.

That is the definition of these puppies. They'll be ready on Easter Weekend. Wouldn't they look cute in someone's Easter basket?
